Strood residents are fed up with the never-ending road closures on their main thoroughfare, Station Road. The latest round of disruptions began on February 8th when the road was closed for emergency gas works, only to reopen just over a week later on March 1st. But the troubles didn't end there; just three days after reopening, the road was closed again due to a gas leak. This constant state of flux has left residents and businesses alike feeling frustrated and in the dark. Vannessa Roach, 62, vice chair of the Frindsbury Extra parish council, expressed her concerns about the lack of communication surrounding the roadworks, stating that it has caused unnecessary hardship for the community. She emphasized that residents and businesses need to be informed about such disruptions in advance to make alternative arrangements. Gas supplier SGN, in response to the residents' frustration, defended the necessity of the repairs, claiming they were essential to ensure the safety and warmth of the local population. However, the company acknowledged the inconvenience and promised to improve communication in the future. Medway Council has been approached for further comment on the situation.
