Barry Ryan Steps Back from Engineering Role as Erebus Motorsport Recruits New Talent
Erebus Motorsport has made a strategic move to strengthen its engineering team by bringing in Daniel Frencham, a seasoned professional from Garry Rogers Motorsport (GRM). Frencham, who previously worked with GRM's Trans Am squad, joins the team as a full-time data engineer, joining forces with rookie Jobe Stewart on the #9 entry.
This decision comes as a result of a recent organizational restructuring within the team, which included the appointment of veteran Dean Orr as team manager. The team's focus has shifted towards fostering a cohesive engineering group that prioritizes collective success over individual roles.
Barry Ryan, the CEO of Erebus, who previously served as the race engineer for the #9 Camaro driven by Jack Le Brocq in 2025, will now take on management duties. This shift in responsibilities allows Ryan to concentrate on strategic leadership while the team benefits from the expertise of new and existing members.
Aidan Graham, who took over engineering responsibilities for the #9 car in the last two events of 2025, will return to his regular role as a data engineer. This move ensures a smooth transition and allows Graham to contribute to the team's overall performance.
Additionally, the team has confirmed that Wayne Mackie will continue to collaborate with Cooper Murray on the #99 side of the Erebus garage. This partnership has been instrumental in the team's success, and the continued collaboration is expected to build upon the momentum gained in the previous season.
Jobe Stewart, the 21-year-old rookie, has already started working closely with Daniel Frencham, expressing enthusiasm for the team's unique approach. Stewart appreciates the level of support and trust that Erebus provides, which is crucial for a rookie's development.
Cooper Murray, a key member of the team, also emphasized the importance of continued growth and momentum. Murray highlighted the team's commitment to providing opportunities and backing its members, which has been a driving force behind Erebus' success. The team's focus on individual development and collective success is expected to continue in 2026, building upon the progress made in the previous season.
